AAMA Annual Conference felt like a family reunion: Civint participates in national discussions at 2025 African American Mayors Association Annual Conference

Attending the AAMA conference always feels somewhat like a family reunion. You walk in a room and feel like you already know half the people there. The other half are easy to make a connection with and are always open to conversation.

Rania and I attended the 2025 African American Mayors Association Annual Conference, held recently in Washington, D.C. More than 100 mayors and dozens of corporate leaders tackled key issues bound by the theme “The Power of Now,” that stressed the urgency of current times.

We learned so much by attending the conference break-out sessions. We also hosted a number of meetings for our clients to connect them with mayors they needed to engage with. We were pleased to host a reception honoring the leadership of outgoing AAMA board president Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed and witness the leadership transition to the incoming board president Savannah Mayor Van Johnson.

Two panel discussions brought key issues facing local governments to the forefront, with a clear message: resilient, inclusive communities begin with investment and participation.
