Case Study: US Conference of Mayors’ P3 Task Force

Group of people are the US Conference of Mayors

Civint uses the power of personal relationships around the country to transform cities through connections and conversations. It’s called civic intelligence where Civint leverages its civic know-how around municipal issues with relationships and partnerships in cities of all sizes round the country.

In 2023, Mayor Steve Benjamin had the vision for the U.S Conference of Mayors to establish the P3 Task Force to help local elected leaders navigate the complexities of infrastructure planning and growth. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dinkins was tapped to chair the task force on behalf of the nation’s mayors. Together, mayors engaged with numerous private sector partners to explore ways to tap into the expertise needed to drive the progress mayors envisioned for their own cities.

In 2024, Civint served as the convener working alongside the U.S. Conference of Mayors to introduce the Association for the Improvement of American Infrastructure (AIAI) and establish the Public/Private Partnerships Institute. Highly localized Institute events at nine locations around the country tapped into deep levels of expertise and practical knowledge about city issues.

Each session opened with an evening welcome reception to allow regional participants and speakers to get acquainted in an informal space. The following day involved subject matter experts in the areas of infrastructure and P3s who shared their experience tackling the complexities of using private sector capital to leverage federal infrastructure funds for the cities.

These practical, expert-led workshops gave the mayors and staff expanded knowledge about infrastructure management and offered new ideas for partnership connections.

Civint’s finely honed civic intelligence around municipal issues has helped give mayors and city staff increased capacity to address common infrastructure challenges effectively. This expertise gets at the heart of city leaders’ commitment to focus on the good of the community over individual interests within their community.
